Here’s another regular feature I’m going to be posting here – every Wednesday I will post and comment on my hottest job. If you want to apply for it, you can either click on the link associated with the job and apply through the website, or you can send your resume to email@example.com. A ‘hot job’ is a job where I’m getting a lot of pressure to produce candidates. With each job order I have, I’m in fairly regular contact with either a hiring manager or an HR Representative and they usually let me know how the search is going. Hot Jobs tend to be those positions where the candidate flow is slow, or those in which there is a strong sense of urgency to fill the position. Each Wednesday, I will provide a little bit of background on the company along with the job specifications.
Job Title: Sr. Process Engineer (Refinery)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000/yr. base salary
I have been working with this client for about 6 months now and I feel that I have a good handle on the culture of this company. I have placed three engineers in the past 6 months, at different locations. This company moves quickly, knows what they are looking for, and makes competitive offers. Relocation-wise, this client will provide assistance with moving your things and assign you a relocation specialist that will handle the sale of your existing home from start to finish. They will also likely provide you reimbursement of closing costs and realtors’ fees on your existing home and they will provide you with temporary living in the new location until you have found something more permanent. The great thing about this client is that they have a large number of plants throughout the U.S. and they vigorously promote from within. The advancement opportunities are going to be there, and the size of this company affords them a high level of job stability.
B.S. Chemical Engineering minimum; 5+ years of experience out of a refining or continuous chemicals background. This person needs to have a good background in common refinery or chemical manufacturing equipment and should have some experience with capital projects. Pluses include: LOPA/QRA experience, general knowledge of API 520/521 standards and/or knowledge of process economics. Ideally this person will have process optimization, process design and production support experience.
This person will work at a large refinery site near Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN and will work on an engineering team that is responsible for process engineering and technical support of the refinery and works on capital projects throughout the site. This person will identify and implement plant improvement projects and will lead PHA studies and other safety related activities. This plant is situated so that a person could live in either an urban, suburban, or even a semi-rural area. The parent company is a large chemicals and oil & gas producer with dozens of manufacturing plants and refineries all over the U.S. The company does a good job promoting and relocating from within (this job is open because the incumbent moved up within the company), they have an excellent relocation package and they offer a very competitive performance incentive program. There are approximately 1000 people at this site including about 250 technical personnel.
